Mammootty completes his portion in Best of Luck

Megastar Mammootty is again appearing as himself in another Malayalam film Best of Luck, directed by M. A. Nishad. Mammootty will appear in a cameo role and he has completed the shooting of his portions.
The megastar earlier appeared in a cameo role in 2007 movie Katha Parayambol, where he played the megastar himself. The other cast of the movie Best of Luck includes Asif Ali, Kailash, Archana Kavi, Urvashi and Rima Kallingal in important roles.

The source informed that Mammootty reported on the sets in Kochi recently to shoot his part. The movie Best of Luck falls in the drama genre, in which veteran Tamil actor Prabhu plays a rich entrepreneur named Vinayaka Naickar and Kailash plays his step brother’s role. Asif will be seen playing a budding filmmaker. Prabhu has a double role in the movie.

A and M Entertainment Company has produced the movie, which has music by the Euphoria band and its lead vocalist Dr Palash Sen. Sanjeev Shankar has done the cinematography and the director has written the film himself. The film is slated for release in September.

Mammootty bags Jaihind TV’s best actor award

Malayalam film star Mammootty has been selected for the best actor award instituted by Jaihind TV for films released in 2009 while Mohanlal bagged the channel's Chalachitra Ratna award.

Actor Prithviraj has been chosen as the youth icon.

Blessy has been selected for the best director award, while actor Dileep and actress Lakshmi Rai have been chosen most popular actors and Salimkumar the best comedian, managing director of the Bharat Broadcasting Network Limited (Jaihind TV) MM Hassan said while announcing the awards at a function in Thrissur last night.

Tamil actor Sarathkumar won the Jaihind Patriotic Pride award and the Chalachitra Prathibha award went to Sreenivasan and special jury award to Kalabhavan Mani, he said.

Pazhassi Raja won the award for best film and Ranjith for best script (Thirakkatha).

Actor Kailash and actress Archana Kavi won the awards for best debut.

The awards will be presented on Tuesday in Thrissur on the occasion of the third anniversary celebrations of Jaihind TV.

Nayantara is Mammootty’s heroine

Mammootty will be doing the lead role in Mathilukalkkappuram, to be directed by debutant Prasad. Mathilukalkkappuram, which will reportedly be made as a sequel to the novel Mathilukal written by Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer (it was on this novel that Adoor Gopalakrishnan had made his famous film Mathilukal, with Mammootty himself in the lead). Nayantara will be the heroine of the film.

Basheer’s Mathilukal had narrated the story of his conversations, across a prison wall, with Narayani, who too was an inmate of the women’s prison. But the Narayani, whom Basheer never sees in Mathilukal, comes to the fore with Mathilukalkkappuram and it’s Nayantara who plays Narayani.

Mammootty’s Oru CBI Dairy Kurippu 5 in the offing

Malayalam blockbuster movie Oru CBI Dairy Kurippu starring megastar Mammootty is going to make its fourth sequel. The first movie of the thriller series was made in 1988 under the direction of K. Madhu.
The other three sequel of the movie were Jagratha in 1989, Sethurama Iyer CBI in 2004, and Nerariyan CBI in 2005. Mammootty starred as an investigation officer Sethurama Iyer in all the four movies. Mammootty will be the lead star in the fifth film too.

Speaking about the sequel, director K. Madhu informed that the film is still in the scripting stage and it would hit the screens next year. Music director Shyam and scriptwriter S.N. Swamy, who were also in all the four films, will continue to be a part of the fifth movie.

Madhu added, “The plot will be the same in this film also. Viewers will not be decided in any way and can expect one more interesting thriller”.

The character of main protagonist played by Mammootty is believed to be inspired by Radhavinod Raju, the first chief of India’s National Investigative Agency.

Mammootty Launches 'Big News'

‘Big News’, mid-day tabloid from Kalakaumadi group of publication has been released at a function in the Nishagandhi auditorium. Actor Mammootty released the tabloid, while youth icon of Malayalam film industry Prithvi Raj received the first copy.

“This is an age of media demassification and there is enough number of dailies and channels in the state to impart news to the people. I hope ‘Big News’ will be different among them all and will develop a constructive journalism proclaiming truth as its main objective,” said Mammootty.

Kalakaumadi Group has been in the publishing industry for around 30 years and they have got a number of publications on various genres. The literary publication of the group, ‘Kalakaumadi’, braved many hardships during the period of Emergency and it is now regarded as one of the best literary magazines in the state.

Lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi presided over the function, while Sukumaran Mani, Chief Editor of the tabloid, welcomed the guests. Lyricist Bichu Thirumala, actors like Meeran Nandan, Manikyam Mythili offered felicitations.
