Kerala State Film Critics Association Award : Mammootty bagged Best Actor


Kerala Film Critics Association awards Announced.


Mammootty bagged the best actor for his performance in ''Pranchiyettan and the Saint''.


''Gaddama'', directed by Kamal was selected the best Malayalam film of the year 2010 by the State Film Critics Association.

Kamal was adjudged the best director, while Kavya Madhavan bagged the best actress award for her performance in ''Gaddama''.

''Makaramanju'' directed by Lenin Rajendran was selected as the second best film. Biju Menon and Samvritha Sunil were adjudged the second best actors for their roles in various films. Ranjith won the award for best script for his work in ''Pranchiyettan and the Saint'' which he himself directed.
''Janakan'' and ''Shikar'' shared the award for best popular film.

Veteran director K S Sethumadhavan was selected for ''Chalachithra Rathnam'' award, while Jagannatha Varma, Santhakumari and Bichu Thirumala were chosen for ''Chalachithra Prathibha'' honours of the Association.


Other awardees are: Vinod Mankara (Best Debut Director (Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram), Mohan Raghavan (Story - T D Dasan Std VI B), Kaithapram (Lyrics - Holidays, Neelambari), M Jayachandran (Music Direction - Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram), Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal (Playback - Holidays, Agathan), Madhu Ambat (Cinematography - Gramam), Gokul Das (Art Direction) and Salim Kumar (Special Jury Award).


The awards, sponsored by the Atlas Group, were announced by Group chairman M M Ramachandran and Thekkinkad Joseph, President, Film Critics Association.

Mammootty's 1993 Bombay March 12 Pooja Held at Cochin

Megastar Mammootty's upcoming Project '1993 Bombay March 12' pooja held at Avenue centre, Panambilli Nagar, Cochin.


The film is based on the real life riot incident and bombings that hit Mumbai on March 12, 1993. The film revolves around the effects of the blasts in the lives of three common men. The film will depict the effect of the incident and the sufferers of that. 

Noted Malayalam screenplay writer Babu Janardhanan's debut directorial venture, who penned the scripts for some critically acclaimed movies like ‘Achanurangatha Veedu', 'Vaasthavam' and 'Thalappavu'.

The movie will be made simultaneously in Malayalam,Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.(multi-lingual).

The film will be canned in Rajasthan and Kerala locations.


August 15 confirmed for March 25

The Shaji Kailas-directed suspense thriller August 15, starring Mammootty, has been confirmed for March 25.



The film is a sequel to August 1, which was directed by Siby Malayil more than 20 years back.
Meghana Raj is the heroine and Pradeep Nair is the cinematographer of the film, which is produced by veteran Aroma Mani.


Kochu Preman, Lalu Alex, Thalaivasal Vijay, Biju Pappan and Balachandran Chullikkad are the others in the cast.

Sonia Agarwal in Doubles


The latest Mammootty movie in the sets 'Doubles' will feature Tamil star Sonia Agarwal in one of its songs. The actress who is for the first time appearing in a Mollywood movie, will be featured in an important song that will also have Roma and Reema Kallingal to catchup the steps. This song set to music by James Vasanthan will be shot in the coming weeks in Bangalore.

Directed by debutante Sohan Seenulal, 'Doubles' will have Tapsee as the heroine. Scripted by Sachi-Sethu, 'Doubles' is produced by K K Narayanadas.

Mammootty bagged TTK Prestige-Vanitha Film Award


The TTK Prestige-Vanitha film awards were presented here in the presence of hundreds of fans and well-wishers. Song and dance shows held on the occasion captured the attention of the attendees at the Corporation stadium.

The awards for the best actor and actress were  received by Mammotty and Mamta Mohandas respectively. The award for the liftime achievement award for the overall contribution was presented to Jagathi Sreekumar.

The awards for the best director and screenplay writer were presented to Renjith. The award for the best cinematographer was given to Venu.

The award winners were selected from the votes of over two lakh people who voted using the coupons published in Vantiha and Malayala Manorama and Manoramaonline.

Mammootty inaugurated the beautified Kozhikode beach

The public should ensure that the beaches here are neat and clean, actor Mammootty has said. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the beautified Kozhikode beach here on Saturday. “The beauty of the beach will reflect the aesthetic sense of the people in the coming days,” he said.

The beautification of the 850-metre stretch of beach, from Lions Park to Corporation Office under the Kozhikode-I Assembly Constituency, was completed at a cost of Rs.3 crore. The smartened up coastal stretch has an entrance-gate, pavilions, walkways, lamp posts, fountain and granite-paved seats among other things. A 1500-square-metre parking space is also in place.

A toilet block, cafeteria and gallery steps are the other features. The project, sanctioned by the Tourism Department in 2009, was completed by the Harbour Engineering Department. This is the third stretch of the beach being opened for public after beautification in the city limits in recent months. A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, presided over the function in which Mayor A.K. Premajam was the chief guest. M.K. Raghavan, MP; district panchayat president Kanathil Jameela; and Tourism Secretary V. Venu and Director A. Shivasankar were present. Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had inaugurated the beatified Bhat Road Beach recently.

Mammootty Dubs for Shikari


Mammootty is now dubbing for his Kannada film Shikari in Vismaya Studio, Kochi. The movie is directed by Abhay Simha and produced by K.Manju.     

Mammukka has already completed the dubbing work for the Malayalam version of this film. The dubbing of all the other artists for the Kannada version is complete. 

Abhay Simha wants to get the first print of the film ready before March 20 and get it censored before March 31. This would enable the film to enter the competition for state awards in Karnataka and Kerala.    

Music director Hari Krishna will start the re-recording work shortly and the effects and DG work is presently going on.

Abhay Simha who won the Best Children`s film National Award for his filmGubbachchigalu has written the script and dialogues for the Kannada version. Mammootty has written the dialogues for the Malayalam version

Mathilukalkappuram Postponed!

It sounds that Mammootty's first film Production, Mathilukalkappuram has been indefinitely postponed due to lack of techis.

It was decided to start Mathilukalkappuram in the first week of March in Thanjavur. Now its Mamta Mohandas had a tweet yesterday that, "Due to some date clashes, Mathilukalkkappuram is indefinitely postponed.. The only reason being tht we want the best techis for this one".There is no other reports on this.

Mathilukalkappuram is written and directed by debutant Prasad. Mamta is pairing up with Mammootty for the first time inthis film.

Mammootty to star in Telugu Movie 'Keeravani'


Young upcoming hero Sharwanand is going to share the screen space with Malyalam Super Star Mammoty in a film titled Keeravani, the movie is not based on music director MM Keeravani, but the main theme of the film is music. Sharwanand and Mammootty play the lead roles in this flick.

This film was launched recently, it is being directed by Venkat PS nd Pulleti Durgamohan and Kotturi Nataraj is jointly producing it on Siri Lakshmi Sindhu Cine creations banner. M S Chandra is composing the music.

The film will be released in three languages and Jayapradha, Suman, Prabhu, Tanikella Bharani, Shobhana, Sita, M S Narayana, Bramhanandam, Ali, Hema, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam are playing the other important roles.

Mammootty creates a flutter in Mumbai

Megastar Mammootty created quite a flutter in the city of Mumbai, when the star arrived for the shoot of his latest film 'The Train'.

The shoot was held at the Kopar Khairane Railway Station that was converted to Parel Railway Station for the film.

Huge crowds thronged the film sets at Mumbai, and there were several people waiting for the star's autograph and requesting to take photographs with the actor.

Later the shooting of the film was also held at Nariman Point, Chathrapathi Shivaji Terminus and Fort.

'The Train' produced under the banner of Harvest Dreams and Entertainment is being directed by Jayaraj.

Mammootty for back to back releases


Megastar Mammootty will have three of his movies released in a gap of two months.

The first to grace the theatres will be Shaji Kailas movie 'August-15', which was shifted to March due to some technical reasons.Immediately following this movie will be 'Shikaari' his bilingual in Kannada and Malayalam which will get to theatres by the end of March. 

And for the Vishu Season, Mammootty will have his 'doubles' released in major centres.The shoot for the movie is presently continuing in Pondicherry.

Mamta replaces Nayantara in Mathilukalkappuram


Mamta will replace Nayanthara in Mammooty starrer Mathilukalkkappuram, a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan's classic Mathilukal.

Mathilukalkkappuram, is written and directed by debutant Prasad. Mamta is pairing up with Mammootty for the first time in this film.

She had earlier acted in Mammootty flicks like Big B and Bus Conductor, but not as his heroine.

Mamta is essaying the character of Narayani. In Mathilukal Narayani's voice rendered by KPAC Lalitha was only heard. But now Narayani is going to be shown on screen, with beautiful Mamta playing the role.  

The shoot of the film will start in the first week of March in Thanjavur. Mammootty`s Play House will produce the movie.

Perumal has Pranchiyettan's softness: Shaji Kailas

Director Shaji Kailas who is ready with his new film 'August 15' has made a surprising revelation.

Shaji says that of the films that he has recently watched, the one that has influenced him most is Ranjith's 'Pracnhiyettan and the Saint'.

Not only that, Shaji says that the softness of Pranchiyettan has had an impact on the portrayal of Perumal. He further explains that Perumal is much more mature today than he was a couple of decades back in 'August 1'.

Shaji has high hopes pinned on his film. He says with confidence that Perumal is a sure shot success.

'The King and the Commissioner' would be dynamite: Shaji Kailas

Director Shaji Kailas says that his new film 'The King and the Commissioner' would be dynamite material.

Shaji says that it was script writer Ranji Panicker's assurance that led to the idea of this film. "We couldn't work together for fifteen years since Ranji was busy," says Shaji.

Mammootty would play Joseph Alex IAS, the character that he played in the megahit film 'The King', while Suresh Gopi would play Bharath Chandran IPS, the character that he played in the megahit film 'Commissioner'.

Ranji talks of the camaraderie these two characters share as ' a friendship that tears each other apart on sight'! The dialogues of the film are expected to be explosive and the film itself is expected to rock the box office.

Anoop Kannan to Direct Mammootty Film

Megastar Mammootty would play the lead role in debutante director Anup Kannan's film. Anup was an associate director to Lal Jose.

This film would be scripted by James Albert and produced by Hussain under the banner of Micro Chrome Entertainments.

Mammootty would join Anup's film once he finishes Shaji Kailas - Ranji Panicker team's 'The King and the Commissioner'.

Mammootty as Pick Pocketer

Megastar Mammootty will once again come to the help of a relatively fresher in the new project titled as Pickpocket' This new movie directed by Vinod Vijayan will have Mammootty as Hari Narayanan, a high tech pick pocketer.




To be scripted by EK Sabeer, the movie will be cinematographed by Samir Thair who had been with Mammootty hits like Big B and Daddycool.The movie planned as a suspense thriller will start its shoot shortly at Ernakulam and Pollachy.

Vanitha Film Awards Announced, Mammootty bags Best Actor

Pranchiyettan and the Saint bagged five awards in the Vanitha film awards announced on Wednesday.

Ranjith who has won three awards will be the star of the award night. He is the best writer, director and the producer of the best film.

Mammootty is the best actor while Mamta walked away with the best actress award. Jagathy Sreekumar got the prestigious Lifetime achievement award.

The other awards include Biju Menon- supporting actor, Mithra Kurien- supporting actress, Yesudas- Best male singer, Shreya Ghoshal- Best female singer, Rafeeque Ahmed-  Best Lyricist, Gopi Sunder- Best Music Director, Siddique- Best Villain, Salim Kumar- Best comedian,  Kunjakko Boban, Archana Kavi Best- Best star pair, Ann Augustine- Best newcocomer, Venu- Best Cameraman.
The awards will be presented at Kozhikode on february 19th.

August 15 Postponed Again


Shaji Kailas directed Mammootty's suspense thriller August 15 produced by veteran Aroma Mani has been postponed again for the third time.
August 15 which was slated for release during Christmas was postponed to February 3, as the shoot got delayed.

The latest we hear is that Aroma has informed theatres that it has been shifted to March 30!
The film is a sequel to August 1 directed by Siby Malayil, more than 20 years back.

The reasons for the postponement are not clear, though the rumours are that Aroma does not want to release the film in February.

Mammootty in 'The Train'

Mammootty  is playing an officer in the Anti-Terrorist Wing of Mahrashtra Police in Jayaraj's new film titled The Train. 

The film started rolling in Mumbai from last week. It focuses on the lives of Malayalees affected by the Mumbai chain bomb blasts in July 2006, in railway stations and moving trains.
Mammootty joined the sets of The Train last Friday after completing his Doubles in Pondicherry. 

The actor took  great risk and shot in the busy streets of Mumbai and places like Victoria Terminal and Nariman Point.
Earlier the project was titled Track with Rahman, which has now been changed to The Train.

The star cast includes Jayasurya, Jagathi,Balaji, Anjali Sabarwal and Sabitha Jayaraj.

Mammootty started 'The Train' !!

Megastar Mammootty started his new project 'The Train' today. Shooting is going on in Mumbai. 'The Train' is directed by Jayaraj and it formerly titled as 'Track with Rahman'.


The film is about the mysterious death of a young man who comes to Mumbai to sing a track for a famous playback singer. A police officer comes to Mumbai to investigate into this murder case.

Mammootty is once again coming together with Jayaraj after last year's critically acclaimed movie ‘Loud Speaker’. Mammootty will appear as a police officer named Kedarnath in all the three versions. Jayasuriya will also appear as an important character in this movie.

Director Jayaraj himself has written the story and screenplay for this film. 
The movie will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Hind(trilingual). The film will have ample importance to both action and music. 

Sreenivasan will handle the music department while Ajayan Vincent will be in charge of the cinematography. The movie likely to be completed in three schedules, will be brought to theaters by Harvest Dreams private Limited.

Mammootty Announced his new Movie name : 'The Train'

Mammootty has announced his new Movie name, The Train. Mammootty announced it two hours before through his Facebook page. Mammootty is now at Mumbai for the shooting of  'The Train'. The movie is directed by Jayaraj.

The cast and crew of the film will be announced later. The main shooting location is Mumbai and some other areas. It sounds that Music of the movie will be given by Sreenivasan and cinematography will be looked after by Ajayan Vincent. Apart from directing the movie, Jayaraj has also written the story and screenplay.

Mammootty having a busy schedule through out his career. Mammootty finished his movie 'Doubles' last day in Chennai and now he joins with ' The Train'.

Mammootty's yet another popular character is returning to screens again through August 15. Mammootty's role as Perumal, a Police Officer in the 1988 movie August 1, was a hit. August 15 will again have Mammootty as Perumal.

Directed by Shaji Kailas, this film scripted by S. N. Swamy, who wrote the script for August 1 as well. August 1 was directed by Sibi Malayil.

August 15 also have a Chief Minister as in August 1 and the role is enacted by Nedumudi Venu. Yakshiyum Njanum actress Meghana Raj is be the heroine in this movie.

M. Mani produces August 15 under the banner Sunitha Productions. Pradeep Nair is the cinematographer. Kochu Preman, Lalu Alex, Thalaivasal Vijay, Biju Pappan, and Balachandran Chullikkad are the others in the cast.



The release of the movie will be in the next week of February, most probably on February 10th.
